Portrait of Warren Daley

Warren is a proud Ngunnawal Elder with many connections in the Canberra community. His mother, whose kinship he claims, is from the Ngunnawal people in the ACT and the surrounding region. His father is a Wiradjari man from Wellington, NSW. The Wiradjuri occupy lands stretching west of the Great Dividing Range, west of Hay in the south, and Nyngan and Gunnedah in the north.

Warren works as a Parks and Conversation ranger at Mulligans Flat, protecting the nature reserve from foxes, rabbits, and other introduced species. He has also worked as a case manager at the Aboriginal Justice Centre and as an Aboriginal Liaison Officer at hospitals throughout Canberra and Queanbeyan. In his younger years, he held various agricultural positions in the Central and North Western regions of NSW.

In the tradition passed down over 60,000 years, Warren will welcome and protect conference attendees on behalf of his ancestors and the wider Ngunnawal community.
