About this Event
Dr June Alexander (Flinders University) presents a workshop on Systematic Instruction (SI).
Systematic Instruction was introduced by Dr Marc Gold in the 1970’s and was originally entitled “Try Another Way.” Today SI remains one of the most effective ways to teach people with learning disabilities skill acquisition and independence.
The workshop covers:
- The philosophy behind Systematic Instruction
- Writing a Task Analysis
- Delivering prompts effectively
- Use of Fading
- Monitoring and reviewing to ensure success
This workshop is suitable for support workers, families, teachers, disability service providers, anyone interested in teaching people with learning disabilities.
The workshop will be in an interactive format – participants practice using Systematic Instruction
All participants will receive a certificate with workshop title and number of hours.
Below is a short video of Marc Gold who founded the ‘Try another Way approach’ and systematically taught complex tasks to people with significant disability
