We understand that not everyone can attend peer groups, workshops, or conferences due to work and life commitments, but we know the importance of setting time aside for thinking and planning.

We want families to feel supported as they pursue an inclusive education for their child with disability. We hope the Inclusive Education Drop-in Day will help you carve out time to troubleshoot any challenges, strategise your next steps or simply talk with us about your thoughts and plans.

Whether you’re just starting out or need help fine-tuning your plans, our hosts –  Anne Keep and Erosha Bakmiwewa will support you throughout the day from our virtual kitchen table.

What you’ll get

Practical guidance

We will be here for you to test ideas as we can be a great sounding board. We will help the best we can with any aspect of inclusive education, including

  • A vision for a genuine inclusive education
  • The support needed and how it might best be provided
  • The power of peers
  • The importance of Universal Design for Learning
  • Collaborating positively with schools and educators
  • Individual Education Plans

Personalised support

Pull up a chair at our virtual kitchen table (on Zoom), and you will be able to speak with one of our hosts in a private virtual break-out space. These one-on-one chats will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis, and alternative times will be offered if our hosts are busy helping others.

At lunchtime (12:30 pm – 1:30 pm), we will be joined by guest speakers Daisy Brown and Gillian Brown.

Daisy completed school last year with a QCE and Cert 2 in animal care. This year she has started a Cert IV in Vet nursing. Daisy has worked in the local veterinary clinic for three years and has built up her skills.

Daisy loves animals, riding horses and fast cars. She likes to share her experience to give others the confidence to follow their passion and achieve success.

When she spoke at our Opening Opportunities conference in 2023, Daisy’s mother, Gillian, was focused on supporting Daisy’s schooling. She believes that navigating the education system using your child’s area of particular interest or passion plays a crucial role in facilitating their opportunities and success in transitioning through school to employment.

Bring your questions

Bring your questions, and we’ll do our best to answer them or brainstorm ideas with you.

Why a “kitchen table”?

During Imagine More’s earliest years, most of our work was done speaking with families around somebody’s kitchen table, often with a cup of tea close at hand. These informal, comfortable settings helped to foster open and honest conversations, allowing us to connect deeply with families and truly understand their needs.

We love the energy of kitchen table conversations and aim to bring this warmth and openness to our Drop-In Day. By creating a similar atmosphere, we want everyone to feel valued, heard, and supported and to encourage meaningful conversations.
