Getting a Job While Still at School

Sam is a keen gardener, church member and theatre-goer. He also happens to have autism. He started working in a valued role when he was in Year 11. Now 18, Sam has recently graduated from college and started a second job.

Sam’s father, Greg, and sister, Ingrid, share Sam’s story. Along with family and friends, they are working towards Sam’s goal of independent living and enjoying a good life. The current focus is on job discovery and finding mainstream employment for Sam.

Ingrid is Sam’s sister. She is a university student, a volunteer, and has worked in a variety of retail and hospitality positions. Ingrid has always wanted these same opportunities to be available to her brother. This is why she’s involved in Sam’s job discovery process. She can’t beat the feeling of hearing him talk about a good day at work.
