Dispelling myths about the Disability Support Pension, Rent Assistance, and employment income

  • How many hours can a person work and still keep their Disability Support Pension?
  • What does it mean for a person with disability to be ‘financially secure’?
  • How do these things relate to a person’s vision of a good life?

Paul Kruger has been interested in finding the answers to these and other questions as part of his research into supporting his son’s post-school journey. Through attending workshops, speaking to other families, and asking professionals and government agencies, he noticed that the connection between earned income, Disability Support Pension, and Rental Assistance is poorly understood, and many myths abound.

In this session, Paul will share what he and his family have learned about the connections between meaningful employment income, the Disability Support Pension, Rental Assistance, and support for decision-making.
