Finding the right job or work experience opportunities for your child can feel challenging. In this webinar, you will learn how to help your child with disability find customised employment and work experience opportunities. This session will focus on the key aspects of job development—understanding what it is and how to customise job roles that fit your child’s interests and skills.
We’ll explore:
- An overview of job development and what it entails.
- Success stories of how students with disability found their first jobs or work experience opportunities.
- How to create and present a visual resume, with examples of written and video resumes.
- Strategies for engaging with employers and negotiating customised roles.
Tips on negotiating a job role and work conditions to ensure your child’s success.
Who should attend
This webinar has been designed for families of students in or about to start years 7-12. People with disability who have already finished school and their families may also find it useful, but please note that much of the content will focus on topics relevant to students.

Fiona McIntosh
Imagine More’s School to Work facilitator Fiona McIntosh will co-present this webinar. Fiona has extensive experience helping families develop visual resumes and approach employers as part of the Customised Employment process.
In this session, Fiona will provide practical tips and examples showing how families have successfully presented their family members’ strengths and interests to potential employers. She will also explain how to initiate conversations with employers to create customised job opportunities for people with disability.
Jan Kruger
Jan Kruger, Imagine More’s Executive Director, will co-present this webinar. Jan’s family has been using a customised approach to employment for many years to assist their son, Jack, in finding meaningful work.
In this session, Jan will share her family’s experience in developing a customised job for Jack.
