In September 2024, following our hugely successful Safeguarding the Future conference, Jan Kruger was invited to chat about safeguarding with Sarah Guise from Radio 1RPH.
First, Jan introduced Imagine More as a capacity-building organisation based in Canberra. She explained how Imagine More aims to support families with family members with disability by offering workshops and conferences that promote inclusion and self-advocacy.
The conversation covers topics like
- safeguarding the future for people with disability
- promoting social role valorisation, and
- the critical role of Circles of Support.
Jan spoke about Imagine More’s recent conference on safeguarding the future that encouraged families to plan for sustaining a vision for a good life post-parental involvement, incorporating community support and legal/financial advice.
Later in the program, reporter Emma Myers presents pieces on the controversial topic of forced sterilisation and recommendations from the Disability Royal Commission.
