Finding home (and the right person to share it with)

When people come together and think about the culture, lifestyles and values they share – moving away from focusing on just disability – real magic can happen. That’s why in some cases we get 100 applications for a housemate role. This session is about finding housemates that make sense.

This is also about where people live. Finding a private rental when setting up an Individualised Living Arrangement ILA isn’t easy, but it’s not impossible. This session shares real stories from the private rental journey, showing how relationships, trust and shared experiences can help secure a lease in a competitive rental market.

    Josh Crupi

Josh Crupi is a Community Living Specialist with over 15 years of experience working alongside people with disability to design lives that are meaningful, self-directed and grounded in real homes and relationships. His work sits at the intersection of housing, inclusion and person-centred practice, with a strong focus on individualised living arrangements.

In his current role in the HOME at Milparinka, Josh contributed to the development and implementation of Individualised Living Option frameworks at a time when these models were still emerging in Victoria. He works closely with individuals, families, housemates, support teams, and funding bodies to help people not only secure and sustain tenancies, but also build shared living arrangements that are relational, stable, and responsive over time.

A core focus of his work is finding and keeping the right housemates, recognising that successful shared living depends as much on compatibility, values, and communication as it does on funding or property.
