Imagining a good life and meaningful work

As a family, you may worry about what the future holds for your child with disability. Will they find fulfilling work and live a meaningful life?

Fiona McIntosh and Erosha Bakmiwewa sought to answer this question and many others in a webinar they presented in November 2024.

Imagining a good life and meaningful work is an important first step in planning for your child’s future. In this session, you’ll learn how to develop a vision for their future, giving you the confidence to guide them towards meaningful employment opportunities. Through stories of success and practical activities, this session will guide you in creating a vision that aligns with your child’s interests, values, and aspirations, as well as the hopes and aspirations of your family.

In this presentation, Fiona and Erosha explain:

  • foundational concepts about the importance of having a positive vision for work.
  • success stories of young people finding work that fits their interests and strengths.
  • how to create a vision statement that involves your family member in planning their future.
  • tips on developing a vision statement that guides employment opportunities.
