Portrait of Kane Morgan

Kane Morgan has held a variety of roles serving people with disability and currently works as an independent Behaviour Support Practitioner. Kane is passionate about Social Role Valorisation (SRV) and its potential to transform people’s lives and safeguard their futures.

In his current role, Kane uses SRV themes to allow a better understanding of what people need rather than just focusing on so-called challenging behaviour.

Kane is a board member of the Australian Social Role Valorisation Association and a keen student and teacher of SRV.

Who is the person behind the behaviour, and what do they need?

Using model coherency to safeguard the future

People with behaviour that challenges those who support them are often misunderstood. Very often, all the focus ends up on their behaviour and none on what they really need.

The themes of Social Role Valorisation (SRV) are very helpful in establishing positive mindsets and assumptions about the person. This more positive focus can safeguard the person’s future and give them access to the good things of life just like everyone else.

In this presentation, Kane Morgan will explore the SRV themes that can provide a coherent foundation for decision-making now and into the future.
