Planning future finances
In his presentation, Chris Oates highlighted what families should consider when ensuring their children have enough money before and after the parents pass away.
In the first part of the session, Chris explained what to do to make sure your kids have enough before you – their parents – pass away. He discussed
- which of your assets form part of the estate and can be passed on to your kids
- ways to build up wealth over time
- what you can do if there is a gap between what you have and what they need
- whether you need Life Insurance.
Next, Chris’s focus shifted to the time after your demise and what you can do now to ensure your children are well provided for. He explained
- how different types of assets can be passed on to your kids
- how your kids can use your assets and money to produce a benefit in the long term
- what investment options are available
- investment risk and why it matters.
